Arusha National Park – an excellent place for hiking, canoeing and game drives. We’ll spend the first day doing some game driving followed by some mid-day canoeing. This park receives far fewer visitors than Ngorongoro and Serengeti, yet it has an impressive amount of wildlife including: giraffes, hyenas and leopards. The next day will be spent hiking on the slopes of Mt. Meru. The complete hike – to summit and back – takes around four to five days. We’ll only be spending the day here but the hike is steep and can be strenuous in parts. It also offers spectacular views over Mt. Kilimanjaro – so bring your camera!
Today you’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park, which is about a two hour drive away. The drive takes you across the Savannah woodlands and open areas where Masai people take their cattle to graze. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit a local village and see the markets. You also have the option to do this on bike. A traditional Tanzanian lunch will follow.

After lunch you’ll be taken to the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, where your lodge is located. We leave you a few hours to relax on your veranda, where you can enjoy some of the diverse birdlife that Manyara offers. It’s also a great time for a small siesta before your night game drive. At 4pm, we’ll head out along the lake and through the underground water forest to look for wildlife. If you wish, you can also do some driving in complete darkness, to fully experience the night in the wild, and to see some of the nocturnal animals such as bush babies. You might even wish to bring along a night vision camcorder to grab some shots of the night wildlife. After the night game drive you’ll be taken to your lodge where you can enjoy dinner and a good night’s sleep.
After breakfast we’ll head out for Lake Eyasi. The drive from Lake Manyara to your luxury camp in Lake Eyasi is roughly 2.5 hours. About half of this drive is on paved roads, while the other half is on dirt roads that take you up the Rift escarpment and into the bush. You’ll arrive in Lake Eyasi in time for some hiking. We’ll then enjoy sundowners near the lake, where you can marvel at the vast amount of birdlife and enjoy the crimson sunset. You’ll overnight in your luxury tented lodge.
A very early start – around 6:00am – for a walk with Bushmen. The walk will take you 1 to 3 hours, depending on your level of fitness. You’ll then drive back to the lodge for brunch and then head out for Ngorongoro Crater highlands The drive is around 2.5 hours and you will pass through the lush green forests of the highlands and then along the crater rim. You’ll arrive at your lodge, where you can check in and grab some food. You’ll then head into the crater for an afternoon game drive. You’ll spend your evening at your lodge, where you can enjoy the stunning views over Ngorongoro Crater.
Another very early start, with a drive to the crater floor. Around 11am you’ll head to Empakaai Crater – a very interesting crater that often gets overlooked by most crowds. Here you can see witness the variety of birdlife and marvel at the large number of flamingos. We’ll do some walks here as well. You’ll arrive back at the crater rim around 5pm – just in time for sundowners and to enjoy the views of where you’d been early that day. Tonight you will enjoy a Masai dance with your sundowner.
Today we head into the mighty Serengeti. Depending on where the migration is, you may get to see some of the migrating herbivores. We’ll spend a couple of nights here, where we can explore the Serengeti and get some game drives in.

You’ll then fly back to Arusha and connect with your flight back home.
