Safari planning
A Tanzania safari is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We’ve outlined some of the steps in deciding on and then booking your ideal safari.
Step 1
The safari itinerary
The first step in the safari planning section is to choose a safari itinerary that suits your schedule and interests. Our Safari ideas page lists popular sample itineraries to give you ideas. Please also see our common questions questions for more information.
If you’ve not yet requested an itinerary, you can go to our contact us page and provide us with your information including:
- The number of people in your party,
- The number of people in your party,
- The number of single, double and triple rooms needed,
- A rough idea of your budget so that we can create a base itinerary as a starting point.
Step 2
Booking the safari
Once you’ve found the safari itinerary for you, the next steps are to sign the safari booking agreement and send the full amount for a confirmed booking or optionally a deposit for an unconfirmed booking. If the safari is less than 60 days away, the full amount will be due instead. Please note the lodges will only provide a confirmed booking upon payment in full. At this time, you’ll also need to provide your flight details and let us know of any special requirements – such as dietary, physical needs, etc.
Step 3
Securing the safari
If you’ve sent a deposit, we’ll use this to secure your expert safari guide and to tentatively reserve lodging. We’ll also provide you with an unconfirmed itinerary.
Step 4
Finalizing payment and itinerary
Payment in full is received and we book all lodging, airfare, hot air balloon rides, Kilimanjaro guides, etc. At this point, we will send a confirmed itinerary with all lodging and flight details. If a lodge or tented camp was unavailable, we’ll use an alternate lodge and alert you to the fact that it was changed. It will also be reflected in the final itinerary.
Step 5
Getting ready for safari
Final questions, packing, what to buy, how much to bring, etc. Step five is when your safari dream is close to becoming reality and you have many questions.
